Elmhurst Public Library Reading Banners

A freelance design assignment to create a series of banners to hang from light posts in the parking lot of my local library. The campaign was meant to promote reading by showcasing the different ways people read, asking the questions What, Where, Who, How, and Why do you read?

After I came up with several different potential design directions, the team at EPL chose the speech bubble motif design and I created icons or text to answer each question depending on the content. The colors were chosen to match the library’s brand colors. Each question has a double banner and single banner variant to accommodate the parking lot’s layout.

Below are some of the banner designs and photos of the banners hanging in the parking lot in the winter of 2018.
